Brain Trust Bites

In an "ode-to-Bernie" post on this beautiful Thursday, just wanted to supply some quick points to catch everyone up on some things:

1) This offense can hit.  Is the D-Backs rotation very strong? No.  But, neither is Pittsburgh's.  But it's difficult to bitch and moan when the Birds drop 31 runs in 3 games.

2)  The Puma can still hit the ball far.  And often.  3 home runs and a grand slam in the series shows Berkman can still supply pop.  A middle of Colby, Pujols, Holliday, Berkman could be scary if he stays healthy.

3) Colby is going to have a break-out year.  Said it 3x now, but it's worth repeating.

4) This series in LA will be a tough one for the Birds and is by far their biggest challenge this season in my opinion.

5)  Keep your eye on Clayton Kershaw on Saturday.  The guy is very, very good but doesn't get a lot of chatter.

6) Also keep your eye on Eduardo Sanchez.  The Brain Trust has been incredibly high on him for two years now, and in his first appearance last night he went 2 innings, 1 hit, 5 Ks.  The guy has all the tools to be unreal.

7) As much as I dislike our middle infield, Theriot and Skip are batting .304 and .267 thus far.  Respectable, but I still hate it.

8)  Fielding is an issue on this team, but not where you'd think.  Albert Pujols already has 3 errors this season, Theriot has 4.  Again, sorry Ryan, but I just don't like you.

9) Don't wear a Card's jersey to the game tonight should you be in LA.  And don't upset the Pirate's security staff.  Lots of beatdowns in baseball right now.

10)  It's Little 500 week at Indiana University, where I'm a graduating senior.  For those who don't know, it's dubbed one of the greatest college weeks in the country and according to IU researchers, more alcohol is consumed during this week at IU than at 85% of all other colleges over the whole year.  Keep that in mind when you consider my crappy writing.

Thanks for reading. Go Cards!

  2. I mean, if there is one way to judge a man's character, that may be the best way. I hear Einstein could put down a 30 pack of Bud in 17 minutes.
